Portfolio monitoring
Tracking the performance of companies a fund has already invested in.
Monitoring draws on board packs, management accounts and quarterly updates to follow each company against its plan and the case made at investment. It feeds valuation marks and reporting to limited partners.
The difficulty is comparison over time. Metrics are redefined, formats change between quarters, and a figure that moved can go unnoticed.
